History of BB Cream

Blemish Balm - born 1968

Christine Schrammek (beauty therapist) developed the "GREEN PEEL" skin peeling as a natural, herbal method to peel the skin. This was roughly 53 years ago.

In the course of this treatment a cream was applied that Christine Schrammek developed herself, later sold seperately under the label "Blemish Balm", this was around 1968. You can learn more about what BB cream is all about.

BB cream in Korea

The first recorded appearance of BB Cream in Korea ever was in 1985 by Dr. Christine Schrammek herself. Following an invitation of the Korean agent she visited South-Korea and presented Blemish Balm, aside from other products.

At the same time she visited Japan, also introducing BB cream there. This marked the beginning of the craze in Asian markets where BB cream is one of the top selling cosmetic products till date. One should keep in mind, that Blemish Balm was not specificaly developed for Asian markets.

The rise through celebrities

As some Asian celebrities liked and used BB cream, it became increasingly popular. The Asian markets became increasingly important for the sale of BB cream. Women liked the product due to the testimonials using it and the stunning results.

In 2003, Christine Schrammek receives the Beauty award "A life of beauty", honouring important persons in cosmetics for their life-work and being a role model for the industry. At that time, BB cream was already widely copied in Asia by many brands like Missah and Dr. Jart+.
